You probably have that favorite color of polish that simply can’t be replaced because you never get tired of. We understand! The bad news is that every time you use your favorite polish you are letting in air, which little by little thickens the polish.

The first sign of deterioration is that it becomes a little harder to spread each time. When your faithful little brush starts to get clumpy, you know it’s on its last few polishes! The good news is with a few simple tricks you can bring your favorite old polish back to life in an instant! Here goes…

Rinse the brush

Begin the rescue by sorting out the brush first. This doesn’t involve soap and water either, dried polish requires acetone. Take a little container or cup and fill it with the acetone. Stay well away from plastic because acetone melts plastic. Pay close attention and gently swirl your brush in the acetone until the old clumps of polish loosen and fall off. You can give it help along with a cloth if you need. You may want to wear gloves. After this, you should rinse it with warm water, and you will have a beautifully clean brush again for smooth application.

Use nail polish thinner

This is something you may not have heard of before, but it really works. Nail polish thinner is available for purchase at many beauty and department stores. When you have purchased some, simply add one drop to your thickened polish. Close the bottle tightly and give it a roll between your hands to mix and warm it up. Observe the nail polish, is it as thin as you want? If not, add one more drop of nail polish thinner and repeat the process until you achieve the desired effect.

Roll the nail polish

Roll your nail polish in-between your hands. For only slightly thickened nail polish, you may be able to get it flowing again by just rolling it between your hands. If this method isn’t efficient, you may have to try another means of loosening your nail polish.

Extra tips

Store polish properly – Nail polish will last longer if you store it correctly. It needs to be stored in a cool, dry place in your home. Keep nail polish away from direct sunlight.

Know when to say goodbye – This may be stating the obvious, but after a few years, at the most, you should throw your nail polish out and treat yourself to a lovely new color!

With the above tips, you should be able to get the most out of your favorite nail polish. Just remember, when it’s time to say goodbye, it’s time to toss it in the bin for good.
