Have you noticed any dark pores on your legs when shaving or adding some body lotion? These strange looking dark pores are caused by impurities becoming trapped under your skin.

Such impurities include excess sebum, too much oil, daily dirt and bacteria. Any of these impurities can unfortunately become lodged deep within your pores and are oxidized, which turns them brown. Dark pores are most commonly known as blackheads, and you may not have known that they can occur anywhere on the bod. Dark pores can often prove a little difficult to eliminate because the skin on your legs is thicker. The good news is that there are certain treatments and remedies you can use to effectively eliminate them.

Tip 1 – The soak

Firstly, you need to enjoy soaking your legs in a hot bathtub or shower to really open your pores and loosen any dead skin. Make sure you have a good soak in the hot bath for a minimum of at least 15 minutes, making sure to completely cover the areas affected by dark pores. Treat yourself to purifying bath foam for added effectiveness.

Tip 2 – Exfoliate

Exfoliating is not only the key to physically removing the dark pores but also keeping them from returning! Exfoliate the skin using a natural (sea salt scrub is always a good choice) mildly abrasive scrub, such as baking soda as you probably have this in your cupboards already. If you want to use baking soda as opposed to a natural exfoliating butter, then pour 1 tablespoon of baking soda into your hand, and mix 1 teaspoon of warm water into it. Massage the baking soda paste onto your legs and pay close attention to the dark pores. Do this for roughly 3 minutes before rinsing with warm water.

Tip 3 – The finishing touch

Once you are out of your bath your legs should feel soft, clean and rejuvenated!

To perfectly finish the job you need to pat dry your skin first. Secondly, massage your legs with a tea tree oil mixture because this will keep the pores free of bacteria and stop dark pores returning. To make your own natural remedy, simply pour 2 tablespoons of olive oil into your palm, and mix 2 drops of tea tree oil into it. Gently massage the oils into the areas affected by dark pores for at least three minutes. Allow the oils to remain on the skin and soak in. You’ll be ready to tackle the day ahead fully protected against the annoyances of dark pores!

The good news is that removing dark pores from your legs can in fact feel like a bit of a pamper session! Some lovely time to yourself to beautify your body can’t be bad! Ensure you repeat the process at least once a week to ensure your dark pores don’t return any time soon.
