Losing belly fat is something, which most women desire and it also seems to be the area that is the most stubborn. Women naturally store fat around their thighs, hips and waist, sorry ladies but this is down to your biological makeup and childbearing qualities. The flat stomach is something which most people want and although target fat loss isn’t something which is possible, there are things you can do to tone up your mid section and strip your body fat levels so you have a flatter smoother torso. Focus on the abs
Train your abs twice a week. One session focus on body weight training and use exercises such as crunches, planks and even burpees. These exercises will work your core and help you to sculpt the area and improve the strength of your overall fitness. On the second day of the week do a weighted ab session so add weight/ resistance to your exercises. Try weighted sit-ups and Russian twists with a weight plate or medicine ball this will build thickness of the muscle and bring out your abs and oblique’s more.

Drink, drink, and drink!
No we aren’t referring to alcohol or copious amounts of sugary drinks and anything else that might take your fancy. If you are wanting to slim down and lose some belly fat then drinking plenty of water is an absolute essential. If you are hungry you will associate this with needing food and want to snack when most of the time it is actually dehydration. Make sure you are getting at the very least 8 glasses of water a day to keep the hunger at bay. Also drinking plenty of water and keeping well hydrated also helps your body to flush out excessive water it may be storing around your gut.

Cut your calorie intake
In order to lose weight you need to be on a calorie deficit. The best thing to do is invest in a tailored plan from a dietician or qualified trainer so you can lose the weight steadily, and healthily without cutting out certain vitamins, minerals and nutrients that your body needs. Crash diets and fad diets aren’t maintainable and can often cause excessive weight gain when you stop so stay well away from these.

When it comes to shedding belly fat then cardio will become your best friend. Resistance training sculpts muscle whereas cardio melts fat. Try and do cardio at least 3 times a week and ideally do it before breakfast as fasted cardio as this will train your body to use your fat stores for fuel. Cardio is the most effective form of exercise for fat burning so whether you prefer swimming, running, cycling, boxing or dancing as long as you are doing it, you are winning!

If you follow the above tips you should be able to lose some stubborn belly fat and tone up. In a matter of weeks you should see significant changes, which will motivate you to push forward and continue.
